# Planet-relative beginner steering

Outside first person, beginner controls use the spherical planet's local horizon.
W / up pitches upward; S / down pitches downward. Holding vertical input continues
through a loop without automatic roll recovery interrupting the inverted segment.
Vertical steering also rolls banked wings toward horizontal, using elevator,
ailerons and rudder together. Combined turn/climb commands request a shallower
bank so the plane can climb while turning. Wing alignment follows the nearest
horizontal attitude, including inverted, to preserve continuous loops.
Diagonal input combines vertical rotation with a heading rotation about planet
up, then distributes both across elevator and rudder immediately. Dive turns
reverse the requested bank so pushing down helps turn in the chosen direction.
A / left and D / right retain coordinated banking turns. Releasing vertical input
keeps the selected climb or dive for about 1.5 seconds, then blends in gentle
pitch recovery over two seconds. Both autopilot correction and flight trim's
climb damping follow this delay; released horizontal input still levels the wings.
Pitch recovery measures both nose elevation and climb/descent velocity. Its
correction axis stays normalized near vertical, so a steep climb still receives
an effective nose-down command after the grace period.
Throttle remains automatic; damage, stalls and collisions still apply.
First person retains the existing beginner controls. Each split-screen pilot uses
the helper selected by their own camera mode.

This feature is pure local simulation with no added NAP domains, requirements,
storage, networking or relay escape hatches. Existing scene and HUD art direction,
app-owned theme policy and frame layouts are preserved.
